Kenyan Premier League outfit Sofapaka has continued with their spending spree this after acquiring the services of keeper Abdoul-Moubarak Aïgba from Togolese side AS OTR.
After a strong start to the new BetKing Premier League campaign, the Nairobi-based outfit has now bolstered their goalkeepers department with the arrival of a highly experienced talent from West Africa.
The 23-year-old, who was part of the Sparrow Hawks who took part in the recently concluded African Nations Championship held in Cameroon, joins the 2009 Kenyan league champions on a two-year deal.
Having agreed to terms with the Batoto ba Mungu, Aigba becomes the sixth signing for Ken Odhiambo’s side as they continue bolstering their ranks in their quest for a continental championship slot next season.
Confirming his signing, the club announced with huge excitement, saying: “Sofapaka Football Club has completed the signing of Togo National team goalkeeper Abdoul-Moubarak Aïgba.
“Welcome to Sofapaka Football Club Abdoul-Moubarak Aïgba.”
On his part the player said; “I am so delighted to join this great club, I feel ready to begin and to deliver.
“I am looking forward to a good stay and better days ahead with the club.”
Adding his views, the club president Elly Kalekwa, whose side finished tenth last season, spoke on how valuable the Togolese goalkeeper will be to his team.
“It was a fight getting his services, several clubs were eyeing his services and it was not an easy task to lure him to sign. I am happy he has finally signed for us, straight for the Chan tournament,” said Kalekwa.
“We all know him well, we all know what he can do, he was in Kenya when Togo played against Harambee Stars but he did not play in the match, so I have been following him for a while now, and it is the best signing for me.”
Apart from Aigba, Sofapaka earlier signed Burundian duo of midfielder Bizimana Amissi and defender David Nshimirimana, Joseph Irungu Waithera who signed from Wazito FC and former Napsa Stars attacker Timothy Otieno.
