Sogne Yacouba Finally Signs to a New Club

Former Asante Kotoko forward Sogne Yacouba has ended his exile from football after signing for Tanzanian side Yanga.

Former Asante Kotoko forward Sogne Yacouba has ended his exile from football after signing for Tanzanian side Yanga.

The 29-year old forward had been without a club for six months after leaving the Porcupine Warriors in March and joins his new team on a free transfer.

The ex-Stade Malien star had been heavily linked with Zambia Super League giants Zesco United, but it emerged back in April that manager George Lwandamina decided he didn’t want him.

Yacouba comes as a replacement of Ghanaian Bernard Morisson who earlier this month left Yanga for Simba SC.

The last time Yacouba played came in January when he featured for the clubs in their Ghana Premier League’s 2-0 win against Ebusua Dwarfs.

The deft left-footed forward is believed to have signed a two-year-contract with Yanga and is expected to be in Dar-es-Salaam for officially unveiling.

In his prime at Porcupine Warriors, the forward helped the Kumasi based clubs reach the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup for the first time in eleven years.

His exploits back then attracted interest from several clubs across the continent including Orlando Pirates and two other Egyptian clubs, Zamalek and Smouha FC.

However, the striker blamed Kotoko for blocking every desired move and his former agent for not getting him what he’s worth.
