French Ligue 2 outfit Toulouse is keen on signing Gaziantep FK central midfielder Souleymane Diarra, according to reports.
The Violets sports director Damien Comolli wants to bring Diarra, who scored two goals in the recent concluded Turkish Super Lig season, to France.
Toulouse sees the 25-year-old Malian international as an end-of-season target, though will face competition from Empoli.
Reports in Turkey claim Diarra is among three players that have been deemed as a surplus to requirement by coach Marius Ninel Şumudică.
Diarra alongside Ghanaian midfielder Raman Chibsah and Bartlomiej Pawlowski were left out of the matchday squad that played Yeni Malatyaspor on Saturday.
However, Toulouse are the favourites to land the midfielder due to his relationship with Comolli, who is monitoring the situation closely after Gaziantep showed interest in offloading the player.
The former AS Réal player from Bamako, who joined Gaziantep from Lens last year for a million euros, has a contract until 2022.
Diarra began his career with the JMG Academy in Bamako, Mali before making a move to Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca.
After just one season at Wydad, the hardworking midfielder was snapped up by Budapest outfit Ujpest where he was spotted by France giants RC Lens.
Diarra, who has made a name for himself thanks to his speed, his dribbling skills and his ability to adapt, can play at any position as a midfielder.
Despite his ‘young’ age he has already accumulated 119 official competition games in his career and already accumulated 12 goals in 11 assists in his career.
The youngster has also played 5 times in the Mali national team, having made his senior debut in a 3–1 win against China, wherein he got a red card on the 38th minute on 29 June 2016.
