South Africa 7s Sets Pace at the Rugby World Cup Sevens 2018 in Dubai

The Rugby World Cup Sevens 2018 Dubai kicked off on a high note for South Africa who registered two easy wins, beating Uganda 19-10 and leaving Kenya in tatters with a 48-5 win.

South Africa now top of Group A with 6 points, leads Canada, Kenya, and Uganda, respectively in the only African-fielded group of the tournament.

Kenya opened with a crucial win over Canada, leading in the first half 5-19 and held on to a 10-10 scoreline in the second half to win the game 29-15 but need to put off an unpredictable Ugandan side with hopes that Canada falls to South Africa in an attempt to steal spot No. 2 on the table.

Uganda 7s who were crowned African champions for the second year in a row with an impressive home display to defend the title, could not register a win against a strong South Africa, followed by a 22-17 loss to Canada despite coming from a 17-7 first-half deficit to win the second half, 10-5 against the North Americans.

All group games conclude today with Kenya/Uganda and South Africa/Canada playing later in the day.
