Mamelodi Sundowns –nicknamed the Brazilians – had rivals Baroka all whopped up in a top-of-the-table clash in a four-goal-thriller clash on Tuesday evening.
The rout began with 22-year-old Motjeka Madisha’s goal from the spot-kick with only three minutes ticking on the clock into game’s start.
Much has been said about the encounter with both sides on top form but the outcome of yesterday’s game certainly had dozens shocked as the Brazilians made a light work of their nemesis.
Ex-Cape Town City midfielder Themba Zwane doubled the lead in the 26th minute with teammate Percy Tau turning provider, in what was the 28-year-old’s second netting of the new season.
Percy would later have his share of the goal cake scoring twice; first in the 47th minute with the second coming in the 71st minute courtesy of Kama Billiat’s assists as Sundowners marched out of the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium with all points intact.
The Pretoria-based side is on an upward trajectory as they plan to reclaim the title they lost to Bidvest Wits who are on a free fall and occupy the basement.
Sundowns is equal on points with Baroka –each on nineteen points – but the former headlines the league on goal difference.
In another fixture on Tuesday, Matrizburg United trounced Cape Town City 4-2 at the Prince Magoga Stadium in Durban.
28-year-old Rodney Ramagalela fronts the goal chart, scoring six times three of those coming via the spot-kick.
