South Africa’s Rivaldo Coetzee to Fly to Scotland This Week After Signing Celtic Deal

Bafana Bafana center-back Rivaldo Coetzee is expected to fly out to Scotland this week in a bid to join Celtics FC. The 20-year-old completed his £800,000 move following the South African club, Ajax Cape Town’s announcement that they’ve reached a deal with the Scottish giants.

Celtics who faced no competition in their race to land the center-back’s signature, expect Coetzee is to touch down in Scotland this week to be unveiled by gaffer Brendan Rodgers.

Rivaldo’s arrival, it is being hoped, will ease Celtic’s burden with injuries which ravaged the defensive line with Dedryck Boyata and Eric Sviatchenko all out on treatment.

The South African initially went AWOL at the start of the pre-season in an attempt to force a move but later made amends for it. Rodgers will be hoping that the acquisition of Rivaldo provides competition for Boyata and Sviatchenko when the duo return.

Coetzee’s deal is subject to securing a work permit and passing a medical.
