Stellenbosch Confirm Departure Of Rafiq De Goede

South Africa Premier Soccer League side Stellenbosch FC  have confirmed the departure of long serving defender Rafiq De Goede.

The 29-year-old spent seven seasons with Stellies having joined the club in 2014 when the franchise was known as Vasco da Gana Cape Town.

Rafiq racked up 10 appearances across all the competition this season and is now linked with a move to another PSL side Martizburg.

“The club can confirm that after consultation with Rafiq De Goede and his representatives we have accepted a transfer offer from a PSL Club,” the club said in a statement.

Rafiq helped Stellies qualify for MTN8 last season for the first time in club’s history and also at one time captained the side.

He is now set to be formally announced as Martizburg’s second transfer window accusation following the arrival of former Orlando Pirates wing-back Wayde Joste.

The Team of Choice will be desperately hoping that the duo together with transfer target Kgoste Moleko will help the team avoid relegation.

Martizburg are currently sitting at the bottom of the DStv Premiership log with 11 points out of 13 matches.
