Sudan drew 0-0 with Guinea-Bissau in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Group D match at the Roumde Adjia Stadium in Garoua on Tuesday night.
It was a stumbling start to the game by both teams which saw very few chances on goal early on.
The first real effort on goal came in the 11th minute when Joseph Mendes hit the right post with a header from Moreto Cassamá’s cross.
Gumaa Abas Omer came close for Sudan in the 18th minute, the winger did well to create space for himself before firing an effort narrowly wide.
Poor finishing was a determining factor which saw both sides go into the halftime break with scores level at 0-0.
Moreto Cassamá came close to giving the Djurtus the lead 10 minutes after the halftime break but his effort from distance was palmed away by Ali Abosheren.
Mohamed Abdelrahman squandered an opportunity to after the hour mark, the midfielder was picked out by Mustafa Karshoum but managed to blast over from 12-yards out.
Piqueti then passed up a chance to give Guinea-Bissau the lead in the 74th minute as he headed wide of the mark from point-blank range.
The Djrutus were awarded a penalty on the 79th minute after Ali Achrine committed a foul inside the area but Pele failed to capitalise on this great opportunity as his right footed shot was saved in the bottom left corner.
Abosheren came to Sudan’s rescue in the 88th minute, the shot-stopper pulled off a fine save to keep out Frédéric Mendy stinging effort from distance.
