Sudan Premier League giants Al Hilal Omdurman have dismissed coach Zaron Manojlovic five days after impressive goalless draw against AS Vita.
The 58-year-old has been with the club for only three months but had earned the admiration of the fans for the effective style of football the players have adopted.
Although results had been generally poor in the domestic league, Manojlovic had been given little funding to bring in players in the upcoming transfer widow.
Al Hilal have gathered one point from their two matches as they lost their African Champions League, Group B opener 2-0 to South Africa champions Mamelodi Sundowns.
Manojlovic’s relations with the board appeared tense after the loss with no discussions taking place about new additions to be recruited by the club.
“Al-Hilal Club announces that Serbian Zoran Manojlovic is no longer the team’s technical manager, wishing him the best in his future endeavors,” read a club statement.
The Serbian coach joined Al Hilal at the beginning of November 2020 on a two- year contract, a few months after leaving Moroccan side Wydad Casablanca.
He has coached three Angolan clubs, notably Primieiro de Agosto from December 2017 to July 2019 and led them to the CAF Champions League semifinal in 2018.
Meanwhile, Ducor Sports can confirm that Egyptian trainer Hamada Sedki is ready to take over as the club’s boss and that talks were ongoing between the two parties.
This is despite Sedki’s denial he wasn’t in talks with the Blue Waves hierarchy over taking the job, saying he was in Khartoum to spend time with his friends.
Al Hilal returns to African Champions League action this weekend where they will visit Algeria’s CR Belouizdad in a match likely to be played in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
The Blue Wave have won a record 27 Sudanese top flight league titles and seven domestic cup trophies.
They will be looking to claim another league title under the tutelage of Hamada Zedki after a three-year wait.
