Mamelodi Sundowns have confirmed that the team took its first training in Tanzania on Friday but worked out under adverse weather conditions.

The Brazilians are camped in Dar es Salaam where there is extreme hot weather conditions that are currently being experienced in the East African coast.

The team is preparing for Sunday’s African Champions League group stage clash against CR Belouizdad.

Sundowns co-coach Rulani Mokwena briefly talked about the climate after technical handlers of the team took the team through slight shakeups.

“We have two objectives, one is to be able to adapt to the climatic conditions, we have been given a very decent pitch. The weather conditions are extremely hot, it’s about thirty-three or thirty-four degrees, but also extremely humid, so we have to adapt and allow the players to adapt under those conditions.,’ said Mokwena.

“The second objective was to complete the session without any injuries, which we managed to do, now we can proceed as everyone is fit and ready to prepare for the match on Sunday.”

Sundowns are currently on a 20-game unbeaten run across all competitions this season, with their first and only defeat so far having come in the MTN8 quarterfinal against Bloemfontein Celtic.

The Brazilians lead Group B on three points after their 2-0 victory over Sudan’s Al Hilal at Loftus Versfeld Stadium two weeks ago in their opening match.
