Mamelodi Sundowns have been handed an injury reprieve with their skilful winger Antony Laffor available for selection over the weekend.
The Liberian international has been absent since April last year with a knee, calf and ankle injury picked up while on international duty.
Sundowns’ manager Pitso Mosimane has confirmed the player will be available when his charges take on Petro de Luanda in a CAF Champions League match on Saturday.
“Positive thing is that Anthony Laffor is pain-free and training and is now ready to be selected for this game as well as upcoming games,” said Mosimane as quoted by the club’s official website.
Defender Ricardo Nascimento will also be available for selection after returning to full training.
The Brazilian suffered a long-term groin injury, sustained during the offseason, which kept him out of action throughout the ongoing campaign.
Mosimane also revealed that Thapelo Miorena is still nursing an injury, which he picked on Sunday during a 2-1 win over Tshwane rivals Supersport United.
“We are only managing Thapelo and his groin. The good thing is that Ricardo Nascimento is back as an additional player in the team, but we still have injuries to Rivaldo Coetzee, Oupa Manyisa, Aubrey Ngoma,” Mosimane added.
Sundowns take on Petro de Luanda at Estadio 11 de Novembro on Saturday afternoon as they continue with their quest for a second Africa Champions League crown, having made it to the round-robin stage, where they top Group C after three unbeaten matches.
