A solitary goal from Barama Mapinduzi secured a 1-0 win for Yanga over Mwandui in a Vodacom Premiership clash at CCM Kabarage Stadium in Shinyanga.

The visitors overcame their nervy start in the third minute in a stunning fashion after Gerald Mathias showed striker’s instincts to break the deadlock with an acrobatic overhead kick that hit the bottom corner and sailed over the line.

It was one-way traffic in the second half and Mapinduzi nearly added a second goal in the 67th minute but the veteran midfielder blasted over from inside the area.
Mwandui could have equalised with a rare attack in the game after the 70th minute, as Joseph Out saw his header palmed away by Wayne Sandilands.
Omary Daga went for the spectacular in the 80th minute but the midfielder’s free-kick from 35-yards out was comfortably dealt with by Abdul.
Metacha Mnata came to Yanga’s rescue in the 92nd minute to deny Raphael Aloba from 20-yards out.
