Tanzanian Midfielder Ambundo Denies Gor Mahia Exit Rumors

Gor Mahia midfielder Dickson Ambundo has denied speculation he could leave Kenyan Premier League champions after being linked with Simba.

Gor Mahia midfielder Dickson Ambundo has denied speculation he could leave Kenyan Premier League champions after being linked with Simba.

Reports emerged in late April claiming that the 24-year-old had signed a pre-contract agreement with the Tanzanian giants.

The winger boasts over 30 appearances for K’Ogalo across all competitions and is regarded as one of the best players in the squad.

Ambundo, who has been involved in the African Champions League matches, still has four months remaining on his contract and insists he is ‘happy’ to stay put.

“I still have a contract with Gor Mahia, there is no point for me to leave,” Ambundo said in an interview with Radio Free Africa.

Ambundo’s contract runs down in August and, as was previously reported, he rejected Gor Mahia’s offer to renew the deal.

The right-winger is owed three months in salary arrears by the club and could be an alternative to a Simba team which is looking to bolster its squad in the coming transfer window.

Ambundo’s capture by the Msimbazi Reds would represent some sort of a double blow for Gor Mahia as goalkeeper David Mapigano is rumoured to have joined Yanga.

Besides Ambundo, Ugandan striker Juma Balinya has also been reported to be keen on an exit.
