Kenyan international midfielder Kenneth Muguna has been unveiled as a new signing by Tanzanian outfit Azam FC.
Muguna, joined the Tanzania Mainland Premier League side from Kenyan giants Gor Mahia last week and arrived in Dar es Salaam on Monday to complete his move to his new club.
“Azam FC are excited to announce the signing of Kenyan international striker Kenneth Muguna on a two-year deal,” confirmed Azam.
“Muguna is coming to add strength to our squad in the attacking zone, in a deal that will keep him serving Azam FC until 2023.
“The attacking midfielder is one of the biggest stars in Kenyan football, this season having been named the country’s FA Cup Player of the Year, with his former club Gor Mahia team emerging champions.
“He becomes our fourth signing for next season, having previously signed two Zambian stars, Charles Zulu, Rodgers Kola and left-back Edward Manyama.”
Azam paid for Muguna USD 15,000 which is part of the signing fee to clear the Confederation of African Football fine the Kenyan had been slapped with after he was found guilty of unsporting behaviour.
The 25-year-old has been an impressive figure at Gor Mahia and among key players that have helped them dominate the local scene.
His form was also evident during the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers when Harambee Stars played against Egypt in Nairobi, although an injury saw him miss the tie against Togo in Lome in March.
