JS Kabylie were forced to hold on for a 0-0 draw in the closing stages of their CAF Confederation Cup Group B match against RS Berkane on Sunday night, having been reduced to 10 men in the 77th minute.
It was a stumbling start to the game by both teams which saw very few chance on goal early on at Stade Municipal de Berkane.
The first real effort on goal came in the 18th minute when Mohammed Zaka fired a 25-yard shot inches wide of Berkane goal.
Three minutes later Kabylie had another chance on goal, but Mohamed Bencharia headed a right wing cross narrowly over the target.
The best chance of the opening half fell to Hamdi Laachir in the 44th minute, but the Berkane man saw his shot from just inside the box superbly saved by the keeper.
The half ended 0-0.
Kabylie goalkeeper was called into action again five minutes after the break, this time denying Zakaria Hadraf from range.
In the 57th minute Issoufou Dayo should really have scored for the home side following a goalmouth scramble, but he struck the crossbar from close range.
The game fell into a bit of a lull after that as both teams squandered possession in the final third and chances on goal were at a minimal.
Kabylie’s task got a lot harder with 13 minutes remaining as Malik Raiah was given his marching orders courtesy of a second yellow card.
Amine Al Kaas almost stall the win in the dying minutes of the match with a thunderous long range effort, but Kabylie pulled off a wonderful save to see the game end all-square.
