The Future Of Simba Coach In Doubt

Simba SC coach Sven Vandenbroeck is a troubled man after calls for his resignation grew louder after the Tanzanian giants suffered their second successive defeat in the Vodacom Mainland Premier League.

Simba SC coach Sven Vandenbroeck is a troubled man after calls for his resignation grew louder after the Tanzanian giants suffered their second successive defeat in the Vodacom Mainland Premier League.

The Belgian was on Monday heckled by club fans after his charges lost 1-0 at home to Ruvu Shooting, four days after a loss with a similar margin to Tanzania Prisons.

It is alleged that the Simba bus had to be escorted by police out of the stadium as fans continued to protest about the team’s poor performance and demanded that Vandenbroeck resigns as head coach.

Several fans on various social media platforms have also expressed their anger at the 40-year-old coach and have called for him to leave, with suggestions the club hasn’t moved forward in the current season.

A wave of insults have been directed at the former Ivory Coast national team assistant coach, among them were messages for him to ‘ leave the country’, while others suggested the club was ‘too big’ for him to lead.

It is understood that the gaffer has been summoned for a meeting with club management over the poor results at the club. Those within Msimbazi Reds management are divided regarding Vandenbroeck’s position at the club.

It is believed that one faction at the club wants the former Zambia national team coach to stay, while another has lost confidence in him despite winning the treble with Simba last season.

Vandenbroeck took the reigns as the head coach of Simba in December and has only two months remaining to the end of his contract.

He previously handled Zambia’s Chipolopolo (February 2016 to February 2018) and the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon from July 2018 to March 2018.

As a player, Vandenbroeck played for Mechelen, Roda JC, De Graafschap, Akratitos, Lierse, Vise and Lov-Ham.
