Thembinkosi Lorch Ruled Out For Weeks In Further Blow To Orlando Pirates

South Africa Premier Soccer League giants Orlando Pirates have been dealt a significant blow with Thembinkosi Lorch having undergone a shoulder injury.

The 28-year-old suffered a freak accident while at home and has since missed four competitive games the Sea Robbers have played so far this season.

He sustained a shoulder injury on Monday and his club has announced that attacker may not be available for the Buccaneers until the beginning of year 2022.

A statement from Houghton suburb reads; “Last week, Coach Fadlu Davids revealed to the media that talisman Thembinkosi Lorch was out for the rest of the year. The news has since been confirmed by the medical department who reveal that the 28-year-old suffered a freak accident while at home which has resulted in Nyoso requiring shoulder surgery.

“The expected time for recovery of an injury of this nature is between 3-4 months.”

Last season Lorch spent 79 days out and was unavailable for 16 games after a tear in his abductor muscle.

Pirates also have several players on the treatment table including Richard Ofori, Zakhele Lepasa and Innocent Maela.

Ofori will miss one match against Chippa United after suffering an injury while on international duty for Ghana national team.

For Lepasa the Soweto giants say that he’s still in the process of rehabilitation for his fracture while Innocent Maela will return to training in three months.
