Thomas Partey Left Out Of Black Stars Squad For Upcoming AFCON Qualifiers

Ghana national team head coach Otto Addo has left midfielder Thomas Partey in his 33-man provisional squad to face Madagascar and Central African Republic.

The Arsenal midfielder is currently struggling with a thigh injury sustained while in action for the Gunners in the clash against Crystal Palace where the team lost 3-0 several weeks ago.

It’s understood that the English Premier League side do not want their star risking any further damage as they want him recover and be ready for upcoming football season.

France-based defender Alexander Djiku has also not been included in national squad but there is room for aging captain Jordan Ayew.

Mubarak Wakaso, Jonathan Mensah and Kamaldeen Sulemana return to the squad that has three local-based players Daniel Barnieh of Hearts of Oak and Bechem United’s Agustine Okrah.

The Black Stars take on Madagascar in their opening game on June 1 at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium before travelling to Angola to face Central African Republic.
