TP Mazembe Confirm Kagame Cup Participation

DR Congo giants, TP Mazembe have confirmed that they will take part in this year’s CECAFA Kagame Cup that will be staged in Kigali, Rwanda on July.

The CECAFA region interclub championship will be played in Rwanda’s capital starting from 6th-21st July with champions of the respective leagues in the region expected to grace the competition.

The Lubumbashi based club, in a statement, have confirmed that they will participate in the annual competition.

”The TPM has agreed in principle for its participation in this tournament, which will be dedicated to commemorating the 25th anniversary of the Rwandan genocide,” read the statement in part.

“In Kigali, the Ravens will be able to rub shoulders with the renowned teams Azam and Simba (Tanzania) KCCA FC (Uganda), Gor Mahia (Kenya), Eagles (Burundi), Rayon Sport, APR and Mukura (Rwanda), Zesco United (Zambia) as well as several other clubs from Somalia, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Sudan and South Sudan,”continued the statement.

Tanzanian champions Simba SC and Young Africans SC have pulled out of the competition.
