The Football Kenya Federation has confirmed that an investigation has been launched into sexual harassment claims made by Trans Nzoia Falcons players against the club officials.
It comes after Kenyan media reported that the players of the Kenyan Women’s Premier League outfit have been thrown out from team’s residential camp after their match against champions Vihiga Queens on Saturday.
In a statement on Friday, FKF said that the allegations have been sent to the world football governing body FIFA and the concerned individuals have been summoned to appear before the local FA
“Football Kenya Federation has formally received allegations of sexual harassment from a section of FKF Women’s Premier League side Trans Nzoia Falcons against officials of the club,” reads FKF statement
“ The federation has referred the matter to FIFA for investigation and summoned the concerned individuals to record statements to aid in the investigations of the case.”
Trans Nzoia Falcons officials led by the club’s assistant secretary, Noah Wakoli denied the claims saying that the move to throw the players out of camp was a result of numerous cases of indiscipline towards the technical bench and club officials.
Meanwhile, FKF has postponed the club’s next two premiership matches following the closure of the teams camp in Kitale, Western Kenya.
“ In view of the above, the club’s next two WFL fixtures have been postponed, with the team’s tentatively expected to return to action on January 25, 2023,” adds the statement.
“The Federation continues to monitor the situation at the club and it will communicate further as and when events warrant.”
