TP Mazembe icon skipper Tresor Mputu has pleaded with club president Moise Katumbi, club fans and teammates to forgive him for the bad reaction after being substituted during DR Congo Linafoot League match against Daring Club Motema Pembe last weekend.
The 34-year-old did not acknowledge the technical bench after being replaced on the 59th minute and headed straight to the tunnel while directing expletives at Katumbi.
In his apology, Mputu says he was totally “misinterpreted” as he didn’t intend “to disrespect” the club president.
“I’m sure people misinterpreted this. President Katumbi, I am your son. I beg for forgiveness from you and from every supporter who was angered by my reaction on Sunday,” said Mputu.
[perfectpullquote align=”full” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””] “I have never insulted anyone on this team and I never would. I no longer have a long career; I would like to finish my few remaining years of playing football, without having disputes with people.” [/perfectpullquote]
TP Mazembe have already vowed to take action against Mputu stating that the club president is a disappointed man.
“President Moise Katumbi is very touched and disappointed by this attitude. Mputu will be sanctioned,” Daniel Simbi who a member of TP Mazembe technical staff told the club website.
This is the second time the Congolese international, who re-joined Mazembe from Angolan side Kabuscorp Palanca, shows his frustrations, having stormed the pitch on realizing he was not in the match-day squad when the team faced Maniema Union.
