Tunisia Coach Admits Difficulty in Persuading France Striker Yedder for AFCON

Tunisia’s coach Alain Giresse admitted to facing difficulties in convincing Wissam Ben Yedder to join his Africa Cup of Nations-bound squad.

Tunisia’s coach Alain Giresse admitted to facing difficulties in convincing Wissam Ben Yedder to join his Africa Cup of Nations-bound squad.

Capped once with France when the World champions went up against Colombia in an exhibition game last year, Yedder hasn’t been called to the Les Blues since but remains eligible to star for Tunisia whom he qualifies to feature for through his parents.

The 28-year-old Manchester United transfer target’s first-team chances in France have declined with  Lacazette, Kylian Mbappe and others ahead of him in the pecking order.

Hoping to accord him breakthrough at the international level, Tunisia are capitalizing on this deduction to tempt the former Toulouse man.

An exclusive hunt to secure his services just prior to the start of the World Cup was launched with the Tunisian Football Federation dispatching a delegation to meet the goal-getter.

However, their efforts were rebuffed including the latest try, leading Giresse, also a Toulouse resident, to admitting having a tough time getting the forward agree to Tunisia’s offer.

“I met him in Toulouse and I am from Toulouse. ..But I admit it’s not easy,” he told BeinSport.
