Tunisia World Cup Squad: Manchester United’s Mejbri In 26-Man Squad

Manchester United, midfielder Hannibal Mejbri, who made his international debut in June last year, is in Jalel Kadri’s Tunisia squad for World Cup in Qatar.

Saint-Etienne’s Wahbi Khazri is among the regular players who made the cut alongside Al Arabi’s Youssef Msakni and Al-Ittifaq’s Naim Sliti.

Sparta Rotterdam defender Omar Rekik has been left out alongside Ajjacio striker Yoann Touzghar and defender Hamza Mathlouthi of Zamalek.

Other omissions from the provisional include the Esperance goalkeeper Farouk Ben Mustapha, Clermont midfielder Seif-Eddine Khaoui and Troyes attacker Yoann Touzghar.

Tunisia will be making sixth appearance at the World Cup, having made their debut in 1978, before qualifying for three editions on the bounce in 1998, 2002 and 2006.

The Carthage Eagles  most recent appearance was in 2018, when Tunisia were knocked out in the group phase after losing to England and Belgium.

Tunisia will face France, Denmark and Australia in Group D of the World Cup, which starts on 20 November.

Their opening match against Denmark then face Australia in their second group game, before concluding the phase against France.

Midfielders: Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane, Ghaylane Chaalali (both Esperance), Aissa Laidouni (Ferencvaros), Hannibal Mejbri (Birmingham City), Ferjani Sassi (Al Duhail), Elyas Skhiri (FC Cologne)

Forwards: Anis Ben Slimane (Brondby), Seifeddine Jaziri (Zamalek), Issam Jebali (Odense), Wahbi Khazri (Montpellier), Taha Yassine Khenissi (Kuwait SC), Youssef Msakni (Al Arabi), Naim Sliti (Al Ittifaq).
