Tunisian Derby: Club Africain Ends Esperance’s 19-game Unbeaten Run.

League leaders Esperance Sportive Du Tunis had a taste of defeat for the first time after losing to Club Africain. In what was a local domestic league derby and a clash of the championship’s best outfits, Esperance went into duel in top shape but second-placed Africain eventually secured the bragging rights.

Defending champions ES, raced into the driving seat at the Stade de Olimpique d’El Menzah, home to Africain, via Anis Ben-Haitira’s seventh minute effort.
The hosts heightened the play and forcing the visitors on their back foot until in additional time when France-born midfielder Wissem Ben Yahia, evened matters in what was his second of the league. Tijani Belaid then put the game beyond Esperance’s reach with a delectable effort to bring to an end the champions’ 19-game unbeaten streak.
However, ES still tops the table on eight points after collecting forty-four points which breaks down as thirteen wins, five draws and a single loss.

In other games on Sunday, seventh-placed Stade Tunisien added to Ben Guerdane’s woes, beating them 1-0.
Bizertin also overcame Kairouan while bottom-placed Zarzis and troubled CS Sfaxien played out a goalless score.
Elsewhere, Etoile Du Sahel shares the second-place spot with Africain following their 3-0 pounding of Metlouai in Sousah region.
Earlier on Saturday, Monastir and Gabes collected wins over Co Medenine and Stade Gabesiene respectively.
