Tunisian giants Etoile du Sahel have parted ways with their Spaniard coach Juan Carlos Garrido after identifying a catalogue of his failings at the club this season.
Garrido is understood to have been told his fate hours before the weekend clash with CS Shebba on Saturday 8 February 2020.
The 50-year-old gaffer took the reins of the team in November 2019 from Foauzi Benzarti with his main aim being to ensure that the team captures the CAF Champions League title.
However, despite guiding the team to African Champions League quarterfinals, his sorry tale in the domestic league where the Coastal Stars managed to pick just a point from the last five league games might have decided the fate of the experienced trainer.
“Garrido won’t be in charge of the team in our next game after parting ways with him amicably,” read a short statement on the club’s official Facebook page.
Garrido leaves the club in the sixth position in the league table after recording 19 points from 13 matches, 18 points behind table leaders Esperance.
The former Raja Casablanca manager, had a stint also at Al Ahly in 2014 where he won two trophies, lifting the CAF Confederation Cup after beating Séwé Sport in the final.
A year later, he also helped Ahly to win the Egyptian Super Cup after beating arch-rivals Zamalek on penalties.
However, he was sacked in May 2015 following the club’s CAF Champions League exit at the hands of Morocco’s Moghreb Tetouan.
The former Villarreal manager was appointed as coach of Saudi Arabian side Ettifaq in November 2016, but was sacked after three months following a series of disappointing results.
Garrido then joined Raja where he left in January 2019 after following after the team lost to Etoile du Sahel in an Arab Club Champions Cup.
