Tunisia’s ES Rades Wins 2018 Dubai Basketball Tournament.

ES Rades’ defeat in the 2017 FIBA Africa Champions Cup Final did little to discourage the Tunisian basketball club after they emerged champions of the 2018 Dubai International Basketball Tournament.

The Tunisian side recovered from a continental defeat and saw off Lebanon’s Homenetmen 75-73 in the final to be crowned champions in Dubai. ES Rades became the first finalists after narrowly defeating Sagesse also of Lebanon 78-77 in the semi-finals.

It could have been a historic moment for Africa’s top two ranked clubs to reach the final of the competition for the first time since 1989 as Morocco and FIBA Africa champions, AS Sale went into to the second semi-final match. However, Homentmen stood in the way of history as they defeated the Moroccans 92-90. Nevertheless, AS Sale managed to secure silverware. The African champions defeated Sagesse 93-89 to win third place in the tournament.
