Two Egyptian Premier League clubs Al Masry and Ismaily Sporting Club have been banned from signing new players in the transfer window in January.
The sides are stopped from bolstering their squads pending payment of their annual dues.
Magdy Abdel Ghani, spokesperson to the Egyptian FA, confirmed the story, insisting the suspension will only be lifted if the sums are settled at the football association headquarters.
Pyramids are second in the standings with eight points between them and leaders Zamalek who are on twelve wins in fifteen league outings.
Ismaily are bottom of the log with Masry also stuttering. The latter was billed to meet the White Knights of Zamalek before cancellation of today’s fixture owing to the New Year.
Elsewhere, the top-of-the-table clash between Al Ahly and Pyramids scheduled for this Friday is due to be officiated by a European referee, according to reports in Cairo.
Zamalek are going in the derby on the back of a 2-0 win over Petroject while Pyramids drew ENPPI in their previous game.
