Uganda has named in-form England based full-back Elvis Bwomomo among three debutants for their 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Sudan in Kampala on 28th of March with popular Democratic Republic of Congo based defender Joseph Ochaya among several players returning to the squad after a long absence.

Cranes coach Jonathan McKinstry has also given debut call-ups to former Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Jayden Onen and Scotland-based Karl Anthony Uchechukwu Mubiru Ikpeazu who play for Brentford and Heart of Midlothian respectively.

Coach McKinstry also handed returns to popular custodian Salim Jamal Magoola after a three-match absence from the national team.

Several players who are regular players of the team were left out of the squad for various reasons including injuries, loss of form, lack of playing time and the chance for the coach to observe other players.

Injuries led to the exclusion of Farouk Miya, while Hassan Wasswa Mawanda looks to have lost his place in the squad because of the lack of playing time at his club. Egypt-based Patrick Henry Kaddu has been given to settle with his new side Ismaili while other players are observed.

Five local-based players will be added to the team from the current Chan squad.

Uganda have collected four points from their two games in Group B, which also includes Burkina Faso and Malawi, while South Sudan have collected none.
