Uganda League Side Express FC Sends Entire Technical Bench Packing

Express FC hierarchy has sent its entire technical bench packing, led by head coach Kefa Kisala after a string of poor performances in the competitions.

The decision to have a change of guard at the technical bench is said to have been arrived at after the club crashed to a humiliating 2-0 defeat to Uganda Police FC on Monday.

“Express announces that head coach Kefa Kisala and his coaching staff and the team doctor have left the club with immediate effect,” reads part of the press statement released by the club.

“The club would like to thank them for their work during their time at Express and wish them well in the future.”

Kisala joined Express at the beginning of the season with the heavy task of building up a new team with most of the first team regulars leaving in a massive clear-out at the end of the 2017/2018 season which also claimed coach Shafiq Bisaso.

It wasn’t to be a ride worth remembering as Express struggled for results and out of 17 outings managed to celebrate victory only five times, a statistic that didn’t go in good taste with the bosses at Express’ headquarters in Wankulukuku.

Kisala asked for patience from the Express board and fans after yesterday’s loss as he sought to stabilize a ship that was almost wrecking barely twelve matches to the end of the season.

The team will now move in fast to secure a bench ready for Saturday’s match against Bul FC at Kakindu Stadium in Jinja.

“George Semwogerere had been approached early on before this season break when it looked certain that Kisala will not last. They have more or less agreed that he will take over at the club,” a source privy to the ongoings at the club informed Ducor Sports.

The former Uganda national team captain, Ssemwogerere was at the club in 2006 and has also previously coached Somalia’s national team in 2014.
