Express FC were held to a 1-1 draw by visiting Gaddafi in a rescheduled StarTimes Uganda Premier League match staged at Mutesa II stadium, Wankulukuku.
Allan Kayiwa handed Express the lead on the 9th minute but Brian Kalumba scored the leveler to deny the hosts maximum points while earning a point away from home.
Playing at home, Express seemed composed and ready to pick maximum points as Faruku Katongole’s pass found Anwaru Ntege early in the game with plenty of space but the forward was flagged offside. Ntege had another chance, Katongole made a move towards Gadaffi’s defense but his shot on goal could not hit the target.
Gaddafi had a chance to test Denis Otim from far through Alex Kitaea but his shot was saved by the shot-stopper.
In the 9th minute the home side went ahead courtesy if Allan Kayiwa who connected a delivery from Daniel Shabene ball inside the danger zone and the striker was in the right place to place it at the back of the net.
Gadaffi then pressed the hosts as they looked to level matters and they did nearly found the back of the net five minutes before the half-hour mark.
Express started the second half brightly as they looked to restore their lead and they were unfortunate not to score their second goal through Hakim Semakula.
The Uganda international hit side netting with a header with Joel Mutakubwa well-beaten, after the visitors had failed to clear a corner-kick.
In the 53rd minute, Gaddafi drew level through Brian Kalumba who beat Denis Otim from close range.
The goal meant that Express’ defensive woes would continue as they have only kept one clean sheets all season.
The two teams then struggled to create clear-cut chances in the latter stages of the game and ultimately, Express and Gaddafi settled for a 1-1 draw on the afternoon.
