Vipers SC and KCCA FC were forced to settle for a point after playing out to a 0-0 draw at St Marys Stadium on Tuesday.
The encounter got off to a slow start, although Vipers started asserting their dominance after 10 minutes.
Fred Kajoba’s side were quite content to let the Kasasiro Boys have the ball, while they attacked on the counter with Karisa, Bayo and Tito.
Vipers went close in the 38th minute when Siraje Sentamu’s free-kick from 25-yards out sailed just wide of Lukwago at goal..
The home side should have gone ahead two minutes later when Halid Lwaliwa’s long ball found Milton Karisa, who placed his effort wide of the upright with Lukwago to beat.
The Venoms continued to waste chances as the half drew to a close, this time Fahad Bayo heading over from 10-yards in the 43rd minute.
KCCA came out much stronger in the second half and nearly went ahead in the 56th minute but Gift Ali’s effort from distance was kept out by the woodwork.
Vipers were threatening on counter-attacks and Innocent Wafula came close too to reducing the deficit five minutes later with cracking strike from close range that rattled the crossbar.
The frame of the goal then denied Kasasiro Boys in the 64th minute, as Achayi Herbert’s deflected effort off Wasswa and crashed onto the crossbar.
Charles Lukwago came to KCCA’s rescue in the 83rd minute, the shot-stopper came off his line and pulled off a fine save to keep out Karisa’s close-range effort.
Neither side could break the deadlock in the closing stages, with Karisa going close once again but he fired into the side-netting, as both sides were forced to settle for a point.
