Uganda To Face Jordan, Syria And Ethiopia In Friendly Matches

Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has lined up three friendly matches for the national football team, the Cranes ahead of upcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Uganda will play Jordan on August 23 in their first friendly, and will proceed to face Syria on August 26 in Amman before travelling to play Ethiopia on August 29 in Addis Ababa.

The Cranes are in Group E of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers and they will face Kenya on September 2 in Nairobi before facing Mali four days later in Kampala.

Uganda will be looking for their first every appearance in the football showpiece, same as the other teams in the group including Rwanda.

In the meantime, 30 players have been called up and are set to kick off preparations for the hard but doable task ahead.

Goalkeeping duo of Joel Mutakubwa, Nafian Alionzi and striker Jude Ssemugabi earning their first call ups after impressing in the top-tier.

Among the defenders who have been summoned include Innocent Wafula of Mbarara City, Murushid Juuko of Express FC and Kenneth Ssemakula of SC Villa.
