Ugandan Vice-champs KCCA Win Inaugural Pilsner Super 8 Cup

KCCA FC win the inaugural Pilsner Super 8 Cup after beating Onduparaka FC.

Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (KCCA FC) deservedly won the inaugural Pilsner Super 8 Cup after beating Arua-based Onduparaka FC 2-0 in the final at Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.

First-half goals from Saddam Ibrahim Juma and Allan Okello were enough to see off the Caterpillars as KCCA FC clinched the first silverware of the 2018/19 season.

The opening 30 minutes looked like a game that would see a goalless first-half but two quick-fire successive goals after the half-hour mark were enough for KCCA to ease off in the second half.

Sadam Ibrahim broke the deadlock with a beautiful free-kick in the 30th minute, three minutes before Allan Okello doubled the lead.

The Kasasiro Boys, who will face off with Al Ahly in the final Total CAF Champions League group fixture on Tuesday 28th August, took their foot off the pedal in the second-half protecting their 2-0 lead.

Onduparaka were the better team in the second half but KCCA were resilient and determined, stopping them at every turn to win the encounter.

The trophy sets KCCA up nicely heading into the new season and the match against Onduparaka gave them a much needed preparatory test heading to Egypt.
