Ugandan Youngster Set to Join FC Zurich

Allan Okello is set for a breakthrough in the professional game in Switzerland after being snapped by FC Zurich.

In a very interesting twist, top Ugandan prospect, Allan Okello is set for a breakthrough in the professional game in Switzerland after being snapped by FC Zurich, Ducor Sports has learnt.

A source in Uganda revealed that Okello, whose football skills were honed at Destiny Football Academy, has completed trials with the club and is expected to sign a three-year contract.

For the past weeks, the 19-year-old teenager had been strongly linked to a move away from KCCA FC following the lucrative offer from Dutch side Ajax Amsterdam in January last year but the move did not materialize.

“The request for FC Zurich’s International Transfer Certificate (ITC) has been made. He will be unveiled at the new club probably next week,” said a source who is a journalist in Uganda.

Okello, who has previously played for the Northern Region in the famous U-17 Airtel Rising Stars, was born and bred in Lira at Destiny Soccer Academy before he crossed over to Kibuli S.S.

It is from Kibuli that he was signed by KCCA FC and made his senior debut in the 7-0 drubbing of Onduparaka FC in a match where he scored a hat trick.
