Victor Osimhen Declares Himself Fit For AFCON

Napoli and Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has declared himself 100 percent fit for the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon next month.

He has been out with a facial injury since last month and is yet to play for Napoli as club doctors indicated that he will need three months to recover.

The 22-year-old, who was joint top scorer of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers with five goals, posted on his social media pages that he is available for selection.

“I will be available for Afcon at 100% unless I am not among the players picked to represent Nigeria,”  Osimhen wrote on Twitter.

The striker had a clash of heads while playing Inter Milan which resulted in surgery and a long layoff.

Osimhen has 10 goals from 19 appearances for the Super Eagles and has been prominent in their World Cup qualifying campaign for Qatar 2022.

Nigeria play in the opening game of the tournament against Egypt on January 11 at the Roumde Adjia Stadium in Garoua.
