Vincent Kompany “Plotting” to Sign DR Congo’s Mbokani to Solve Anderlecht’s Striker Woes

Vincent Kompany, ex-Manchester City centre-back now player-coach at Anderlecht, is reportedly keen to sign Dieumerci Mbokani.

Multiple-time Belgian Premier League champions Anderlecht have been experiencing a decline in recent seasons before their latest return to winning ways with three straight wins, one of which ended in an emphatic 7-0 romping.

However, there is concern over the side’s scoring abilities with Englishman Kemar Roofe being the team’s top scorer with six goals.

Vincent is a player-coach and has a voice over who goes in and out of the squad with latest reports linking him to the signing of Mbokani.

The 33-year-old was available to Anderlecht for free but Kompany took a pass on the decision – a thing he certainly is regretting now after the DR Congo man went on to score eighteen clean goals to become the league’ s joint top scorer.

The forward’s deal runs out at June’s end despite several talks of a possible renewal with Antwerp.

Antwerp risk losing him on a free when that time comes, a presented chance, reports in Brussels say, Kompany is willing to cash in on the situation to sanction the attacker’s return to Anderlecht.

Dieumerci is a cult figure at Anderlecht, scooping several golden boots during his time there.
