Wahbi Khazri: Montpellier Sign Tunisia Striker On A Free Transfer

French Ligue 1 side Montpellier  Herault Sports Club has signed Tunisia international Wahbi Khazri on a free transfer.

The 31-year-old winger  joins from relegated Saint-Etienne, having scored 37 goals in 114 appearances for the club in the last five seasons.

Khazri has agreed a two-year contract with Montpellier, with the option of a third year.

“He has a very complete profile as he is able to destabilize opposing defences by his quality of passes, long-range goals like the magnificent goal scored against Metz last season from more than 80 metres,”a statement from the club read as translated by Goal.com.

“Recruited by Bordeaux, he spent a season and a half at Haillan and scored 15 goals in 64 outings. His performances saw him join Sunderland in January 2016.

“After helping the club to maintain its top-flight status in the first season, he failed to prevent the Black Cats from relegation to the Championship at the end of the 2016-17 season.”

Khazri has over 60  caps for Tunisia and captained the side at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon and the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
