Wahbi Khazri Retires From Carthage Eagles

Tunisia striker Wahbi Khazri has announced his retirement from international football.

The Montpellier marksman’s decision follows the Carthage Eagles’ elimination from the 2022 World Cup.

The 31-year-old star scored the winner over France in their final Group D game, but it was not enough for the Carthage Eagles to progress as they finished third in the group.

“I am proud of what I gave my country over the past years, and I believe that the future for this generation is bright,” Khazri told beIN Sports France.

The former Sunderland attacker captained the side at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, the 2018 World Cup in Russia, and 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Khazri won 74 caps for Tunisia and scored with 25 goals and 14 assists since his debut nine years ago.
