Ethiopia national team, Walia Antelopes, are expected to report to camp on Monday in readiness for the upcoming 2020 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier return leg clash against Rwanda that will be played on Friday 18 October.
The Walias lost the first of the two-legged qualifier 1-0 in a match that was played a fortnight ago in Makelle, with striker Sugira Ernest scoring the all-important goal.
Ethiopia will travel to Kigali for the crucial return-leg match that Ethiopia need to win to book their place in the next year’s tournament set to be staged in Cameroon.
The Abraham Mebratu’s charges, however, will first focus on an international friendly against Uganda on September 13 in Bahirdar.
A check by Ducor Sports revealed that some of the players are expected in Adama on Saturday even as our correspondent was hinted that almost all the players have indicated their arrival before dusk on Monday.
Ethiopia’s opponents are on the quest for a fourth appearance in the biennial tournament, having only missed the inaugural 2009 and 2014 editions.
Previously Rwanda qualified for the 2018 CHAN tournament, held in Morocco, after beating Ethiopia 3-2, thanks to goals from Abeddy Biramahire, Eric Rutanga, and Muhadjiri Hakizimana, and hosting the 2016 edition in Kigali after taking part in the 2011 edition which was held in Sudan.
CHAN tournament is reserved exclusively for players actively featuring in their respective national championships.
