Tottenham Hotspurs’ Kenyan midfielder Victor Wanyama has congratulated Mbwana Samatta for joining Aston Villa.
Widely regarded as one of the finest players in Africa, Samatta joined the Midlanders on Monday, after agreeing to a four-and-half-year deal, making him the second East African to play in English Premier League.
Wanyama hailed Samatta’s move from Genk to Aston on his official Twitter account, writing:

The 27-year-old Tanzania captain had some few months left on his deal at Genk but opted not to extend the same and instead joined Aston Villa in a move worth just over £10 million.
Samatta becomes Villa’s third acquisition of the transfer window following two loan signings of midfielder Danny Drinkwater from Chelsea and goalkeeper Pepe Reina from AC Milan.
Before moving to Europe, the striker played for Congolese giants Tout Puissant Mazembe, having begun his professional career with Simba SC in his homeland.
Aston Villa are currently 18th in the English Premier League table with 22 points after 23 matches and they will next meet Watford at home on Tuesday.
Wanyama, 29, is still attracting interest from several European clubs, including West Ham Celtic, Norwich City and Galatasaray as the midfielder could be set for a move away from north London this January.
