Kenyan midfielder Victor Wanyama was delighted after ending his one-year goal drought with a goal against Huddersfield United on Saturday afternoon.

Kenyan midfielder Victor Wanyama was delighted after ending his one-year goal drought with a goal against Huddersfield United on Saturday afternoon.

Wanyama opened the scoring early in the game before Lucas Moura bagged a superb hat-trick to aid Spurs keep its Champions League qualification dream alive.

Speaking to the club website, Wanyama expressed his delight at ending the drought with a superb goal into an empty net after going round the keeper. “It feels good. It’s been a while since I scored, I am very happy to score again and it lifts me”, he said.

The Harambee Stars captain has struggled with injury for the last two years and is returning to full fitness. He says he is happy to be back and is growing stronger by the day.

“I am just happy that I am back and feeling stronger every day and I am happy to be in the game and get the goal, “he added.

After the current campaign with Spurs, Wanyama will be tasked with leading Kenya at the African Cup of Nations in June.
