France-based gaffer and ex-Senegal international Omar Daf has urged fans to rally behind the Taranga Lions in their Nations Cup quest.

Senegal is one of the teams considered as favorites, and the Lions’ current winning trend has only upped those hopes.

Weighing in, Daf recognizes the team’s flow but believes that with all hands on deck the, set out objective remains within reach.

“We see a team that has character, fight in every game. If we continue this momentum, this team will go very far (in the Nations Cup),” the Sochaux gaffer says.

“I think that by joining forces we can win this trophy (AFCON title). All Senegalese must join forces to make it happen. We have the means, we have a very nice team. You just have to stay focused and united,” he said.

42-year-old Omar was capped fifty-five times for Senegal before hanging up his boots in 2013.

A left-sided defender, the former Westerlo FC man formed the core of the 2002 Taranga Lions outfit that lost to Cameroon in the Africa Cup of Nations finals before going on to do the continent proud by reaching the quarters of the 2002 World Cup.

He was deputy to gaffer Aliou Cisse prior to his appointment as French Ligue 2 side Sochaux’s manager recently.
