Ugandan international Hashim Sempala has revealed the real reasons behind his short stay with Kenyan Premier League outfit, Gor Mahia, almost one year ago.
The 25-year-old joined K’Ogalo mid-last year after penning a two-year contract on the final day of the transfer window but was forced to cut his stay after six months to rejoin his former club Tusker.
Sempala states that Gor Mahia, despite being a big club in Africa, failed to meet all contractual obligations including failure to pay the sign-on fee.
“I left Gor Mahia because the terms and conditions agreed on were not fulfilled by the club. The second incident is that I got injured and never got any medical attention from the club,” said Sempala in an interview with Ugandan outlet, Kawowo Sports.
The combative defensive midfielder made less than 10 starts for Gor Mahia, and while reflecting his stay, Sempala said it was the most difficult and frustrating for him.
He added that he had to think deeply about his career, especially after the club signed a number of foreign players over the Kenya Premier League quota.
Sempala was already seen as the player to replace Francis Kahata, who joined Tanzanian giants Simba SC.
The Kampala University alumni said he still wants to achieve greatness in his career, including being an African champion and returning to Uganda Cranes.
Sempala started his career in his native Uganda where he featured for BUL FC, Uganda Revenue Authority and Express FC.
He joined Tusker FC in 2016 and won a double with the Kenyan side in the 2016 season – the KPL trophy and GoTv Shield.
