Wydad Game Nice and Early for Sundowns Fans

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has changed and confirmed new kick-off time for Mamelodi Sundowns and Wydad Casablanca clash on Saturday.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has changed and confirmed new kick-off time for Mamelodi Sundowns and Wydad Casablanca clash on Saturday.

The second-leg match of the CAF Champions League between the two sides at Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville, initially slated to kick off at 6 pm, has been rescheduled to 3 pm in the afternoon.

This was confirmed by CAF after Sundowns wrote to the Ahmad Ahmad led team to reschedule the match arguing that the 3 pm kick-off satisfies all the CAF criteria rather than 6 pm.

It will be the third season in a row that the two sides have met each other in the premier continental club competition.

“CAF has just confirmed to us (Sundowns) the match is at 3 pm and not initial 6 pm. We wrote to them and clarification has been cleared,” a source at Tshwane giants revealed to Ducor Sports.

Sundowns suffered a 2-1 defeat in the first leg away in Rabat on Friday but the Brazilians go into their home leg with a crucial away goal, which could see them through to the final should they manage to beat the Moroccan outfit without conceding.

The Brazilians lone goal on Friday came via veteran defender Anele Ngcongca, on either side of strikes from Salah Eddine Said and Aouk Badi.

“While I’m not entirely happy with the result because we lost‚ I’m happy with the performance because it’s always a difficult place for us here in Morocco,” said Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane.

“We must improve though. We made a lot of mistakes at the back‚ but you have to understand that everyone is stressed because it’s the Caf Champions League semi-finals and everyone wants to go to the final. I believe we should have cleared the ball in the first goal.”

Sundowns briefly turn their attention to league action where they are set to meet Black Leopards on Tuesday, April 30 at Thohoyandou Stadium at 7.30pm South Africa time.
