Yanga won the Tanzania Community Shield by defeating Simba at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium on Saturday thanks to first half strike from Fiston Mayele.
Simba provided more danger shortly in the fifth minute through a cutback from Pape Sakho to Tbwalya, but Dickson Job put his body on the line to keep out the latter.
Yanga sliced through their rivals on the 11th minute before after a flowing move set Mayele free on goal, before sending a powerful shot past Aisha Manula.
The Jangwani Boys continued to hold the percentage of play and made nearly scored the second in 28th minute when Faisal Salum went past two Simba defenders but his shot went wide.
Kanoute had a chance to bring Simba back into the game in the 36th minute after a cross by Hussein found him inside the box but he guided his effort wide and there were no clear opening for either side in the closing stages of the first stanza, as Yanga went to the break leading by an odd goal.

Chances were hard to come by in the early stages of the second stanza and Bocco had the first opportunity for Simba on the hour-mark, forcing a save out of Djidgui.
Nasreddine Nabi made a double substitution for fresh legs in the 63th minute as Yacouba Sogne came on for Mayele and Makambo replaced Juses Mukoko.
Simba were looking to control the game in the last eight minutes, as Banda replaced Kanoute for fresh legs upfront to reinforce the defence and Yanga held on to clinch the win,
