Yanga Linked With Ghanaian Goalkeeper

Power Dynamos goalkeeper Kofi Mensah has been linked with a move to Tanzanian Premier League giants Yanga, according to reports.

Power Dynamos goalkeeper Kofi Mensah has been linked with a move to Tanzanian Premier League giants Yanga, according to reports.

The Timu Ya Mwananchi are interested in bringing the Ghanaian international, with indications that the club is looking to bolster their goalkeeping department in preparation for next season.

The 23-year-old shot-stopper has been playing regularly at club and would bring much-needed experience to Yanga, should they secure his services.

“Yanga are interested in Mensah from Power Dynamos. With inconsistencies and injuries in their goalkeeping department, the club is considering making an offer for Mensah for next season,” said the source.

Despite possessing healthy stocks, as far as quantity is concerned, in the goalkeeping department, the Jangwani Street-based giants have struggled to settle on a first-choice option.

Former Harambee Stars shot stopper, Farouk Shikhalo, started few games of the recently concluded season but was relegated to the bench soon after his role in a costly blunder.

Since then, Metacha Mnata was the preferred option, making over making 19 league starts, with Shikhalo deputizing him.

With Mnata left with less than six months on his contract,  Mensah could find himself entering the fray considering his contact at Dynamos is almost about to end.

And with age on his side, the former Ghana U-17 international could be seen by the Timu Ya Mwananchi as a long-term option alongside experienced Shikhalo.

Mensah previously turned for Ghana Premier League side Karela United before moving to the Arthur Davies Stadium.
