Zamalek Sign Benin Striker Samson Akinyoola

Benin international striker Samson Akinyoola has joined Egyptian Premier League champions Zamalek SC on a three-year deal.

The 22-year-old centre- forward, who previously turned for Venezuelan side Caracas FC, was rewarded with a contract following a successful trial.

Akinyoola started his senior career in Nigeria before moving to Slovakian side Senica in 2019.He was later snapped up by Caracas at the beginning of 2021 season.

In his first Venezuelan Premier Division season, he scored 18 goals in 34 combined appearances across the regular season and playoffs.

Nicknamed the ‘Bison’ for his broad physique, Akinyoola is strong and surprisingly explosive given his large frame and lack of height.

He’s also skillful and clinical in front of goal, with all these attributes combining to earned him 2021 Liga FUTVE ‘Best Foreigner’ and 2021 Liga Player of the Season

Akinyoola has won three international caps for Togo, having made his Cheetahs debut in 2018.At youth level, he represented the West African nation during 2019 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations qualification.

He becomes seventh summer arrival at Zamalek after Senegalese forward Ibrahima Ndiaye, Moroccan midfielder Zakaria El Wardi, Egyptian defenders Mostafa El-Zennari, Omar Gaber and midfielder Nabil Emad, and keeper Mohamed Sobh
