The MTN/FAZ Super League entered week eleven action over the weekend with log leaders Zesco United out on continental duty the top spot was up for grabs and Green Buffaloes took full advantage of the opportunity to two points clear at the top.
On Saturday, The biggest match of the day saw Green Buffaloes make a trip to the Copperbelt to face twelve time Super League champions Nkana. Buffaloes only needed a minute to score the opener as influential midfielder Diamond Chikwekwe capitalised on a defensive error to put the Bilton Musonda tutored out-fit ahead.
Former Kabwe Warriors striker Idris Ilunga Mbombo was giving Buffaloes a lot of problems despite Nkana being a goal down and he finally got his name on the score sheet in the 39th minute after receiving a pass from Ronald Kampamba.
Nkana’s defense was in shambles and four minutes into the second half Jasper Masialeti put Buffaloes back in the lead after another defensive error. The Army sponsored out-fit held on to win the match by two goals to one and go two points clear at the summit. Nkana have now failed to beat Buffaloes in their last six meetings.
In Lusaka, NAPSA Stars recorded their first win of the season after they beat Sensational Zanaco by two goals to one. NAPSA went ahead after seven minutes through Luka Lungu. Congolese striker Maisha Chavda equalised in the 85th minute to pull the bankers level.
With the match headed for a draw defender Alex Mwamba scored in added time to put NAPSA in the lead. The pensioners held on to win the match and make sure Zanaco make it five games without a victory.
In Choma, Nkwazi continued their unbeaten run under coach Chris Kaunda as they won their third straight game beating Green Eagles by two goals to nil courtesy of goals from Sebastian Mwansa and Davy Kalandanya.
Lumwana Radiants and Forest Rangers managed narrow one nil wins over New Monze Swallows and Nakambala Leopards respectively while Kitwe United and Kabwe Youth held Buildcon and National Assembly to one all draws respectively.
On Sunday, Power Dynamos made easy work of Nchanga Rangers by thrashing them by three goals to one. Godfrey Ngwenya, Lameck Kafwaya and Gamphani Lungu scored the goals for the Kelvin Kaindu coached side.
In Lusaka, Joseph Phiri scored a screamer to earn Honor Janza only his third victory of the season as Red Arrows recorded a narrow one nil win over Lusaka dynamos.
