Zambia international Walter Bwalya has joined Egyptian top-flight side El Gouna Sporting Club from Nkana FC.
The striker, 24, moved to the Red Devils from Forest Rangers three seasons ago and had a year remaining to his contract.
“Nkana have concluded a transfer for skipper Walter Bwalya who moves on a permanent arrangement to Egypt’s El Gouna Sporting Club,” Nkana CEO Charles Chakatazya said.
Bwalya came into limelight in 2016 when he emerged to top scorer in the Zambia Super League with 23 goals, to win the FAZ Golden Boot award.
In 2018, Bwalya scored another 11 and four in all competition in an injury-plagued 2019 transitional season.
The Congolese-born forward now becomes the second high profile Nkana departure in the off-season following striker Austin Muwowo’s transfer to Orlando Pirates in South Africa.
It is worth mentioning that Bwalya was linked with Tanzania Premier League giants Simba SC but the negotiations fell through.
His new club El Gouna are currently fifth from bottom on the Egyptian Premier League log on 38 points from 34 games played while Al Ahly leads on 74 points with two games in hand.
El Gouna is owned by Egyptian billionaire family Sawiris, who also owns FC Luzern in Switzerland premier league and recently acquired Aston Villa FC, which was promoted to the English premier league last season.
