Zambia’s Copper Queens To Play Chile In A Friendly

The Zambia women national team, the Copper Queens, will play Chile, away, on November 28 in Santiago as part of team’s preparations for Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games that will be staged in Japan in 2021.

The Zambia women national team, the Copper Queens, will play Chile, away, on November 28 in Santiago as part of team’s preparations for Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games that will be staged in Japan in 2021.

This has been revealed by Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) General Secretary Adrian Kashala who says the match will help the team get ready for the Olympics.

“We are happy to announce that we have organized a high profile match for our senior women national team with Chile. We believe that this will give the team a taste of high profile opposition as we will be flying the continent’s flag in Tokyo,” Kashala told FAZ media.

The Copper Queens qualified for the first Olympic Games in their history when they beat Cameroon 2-1 in March this year to qualify on away goals.

The Bruce Mwape’s charges won the final qualifier for Africa through on away goals after drawing 4-4 on aggregate.

For Chile, they will be using the match as part of their preparations for their final chance to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics. They will face Cameroon in a two-legged playoff at a date yet to be announced by FIFA.

Zambia is the only fifth African side to reach the Olympics’ women’s football tournament, after Cameroon, Nigeria, South Africa and Zimbabwe.
